DISCOVER & EXPOSE:
Sources, tools and techniques for journalism and civic oversight
8 April 2026
h. 10:00 – 16:00 CET
Online, via Webex
Society’s issues call for societal action. That’s why investigative journalists and civil society organisations are often first responders in the fight against organised and financial crime.
With criminal actors having increasingly seeped into the fabric of the legal economy, and employing strategies that obscure ownership, fragment information, and make their schemes harder to expose, advanced analytical tools and innovative techniques are of the utmost importance to today’s journalist/CSO.
Drawing on the field-tested strategies of leading journalistic networks, DATACROS III’s second training will provide reporters and civic watchdogs with the edge needed to unmask criminal interests. The session will cover:
- A hands-on demonstration of the DATACROS III investigative platform
- New AI-powered functionalities across a wider range of assets and financial domains
- Collaborations between journalists and civil society
- Tracking public money and hidden beneficiaries
- Techniques for investigating greenwashing and green finance
- Tracking shadow vessels
Organised by IrpiMedia within the framework of the EU-funded DATACROS III project, with the support of project coordinator Transcrime.
