DATACROS III International Conference
12 November 2026
9.30 – 17:00 EET (8.30 – 16:00 CET)
Bucharest and Online
Like any modern enterprise, criminal organisations have proved highly responsive to emerging opportunities: exploiting technologies such as AI and crypto to reduce costs, scale operations and launder proceeds; targeting new markets, with public funds and procurement as an attractive pool of resources; outsourcing activities to crime-as-a-service providers; and building cross-border corporate structures to obscure ownership, move capital and facilitate crimes such as corruption.
How should the EU’s strategy evolve in response?
The one-day International Conference of DATACROS III will bring experts from the research sector, public authorities, private companies and civil society together to examine what comes next for Europe’s response to organised and financial crime.
(You can attend one or both sessions)
- MORNING SESSION (9.30-12.00 EET)
Investigating Organised Crime: Contemporary Challenges, Best Practices, and Technological Solutions
Presentations by front-line operators, focusing on the misuse of legal business structures, the role of business registries, and regulatory-ready AI-powered investigative tools – with a presentation of the technologies and results of the DATACROS III project.
- AFTERNOON SESSION (14.00-17 EET)
The Future of the EU Strategy for Combating Organised Crime
Panels and roundtables featuring experts, researchers, and journalists on the evolving European criminal landscape, with deep dives into public sector corruption, crypto-based sanctions evasion, and the future of asset recovery.
Event organised within the framework of the EU-funded DATACROS III project, by project coordinator Transcrime-Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore and ANABI, with the contribution of the project’s partners and the European Journal on Criminal Policy and Research.
